Happy Holidays Everyone!
The coaches would just like to thank all swimmers and parents for a great December. With meets starting up this month things were pretty hectic and we appreciate everyone doing their part to make the meets and practices run smoothly. Here is an outlook for the month of January
Week of Jan 1-5: No practice Monday, January 1st. Enjoy the New Year! We will have practice on Tuesday, from 8:00AM-10:15AM. Please come prepared to do dryland and swim. There is no school on Tuesday. Normal practices will resume on Wednesday, January 3rd from 5:15am-6:30am. Since we do not have a meet this week, we will have practice Wednesday-Friday. Year round swimmers only need to come to one practice Wednesday-Friday and can use their year round practice on Tuesday as their 2nd practice of the week.
Week of Jan 8-12: We have one meet this week on Wednesday the 10th so EVERYONE will need to be at practice on Tuesday morning. We will have practice Monday, Tuesday and Friday this week. Year round swimmers need to come on Tuesday and can choose whether to come Monday or Friday as their additional practice. Swimmers going to Kecoughtan must come to practice Friday morning.
Saturday, January 13th - Kecoughtan: Swimmers going to Kecoughtan will need to report to the high school at 5:30AM Saturday morning. This time may change depending on our warm up time, but those swimmers will be notified if the bus time changes. This will be a long day so please bring blankets, pillows, homework, money for food, and anything else you think you might want during the day. Depending on how many people qualify for finals and how late they go we will probably return to CFHS around 11:30-12:00 Saturday night.
Jan 15-19: We have two meets this week on Wednesday and Friday. Please vote on the google form by January 1st on how you want to handle practices on Thursday and Friday: https://goo.gl/forms/I
Jan 22-26: Practice will be held at normal time Monday-Thursday this week. Year round swimmers can choose which practice to attend Monday-Wednesday but everyone must be at practice on Thursday. The district meet will be Friday, January 26th.
Thank you for your time and please feel free to email the coaches if you have any questions or concerns.

Mr. McGowan took some photos of our first meet against North Stafford last week and Riverbend this week. He has offered to share them with the team to download. Photos can be found at the following links:
Mr. MacIsaac also took some photos of our meet against Riverbend. They can be found in the "photos" section on this website.
Attention Parents -
The link below can be used to sign up for volunteer positions at meets throughout the season. In order for meets to run smoothly we need each parent to volunteer 3 times per swimmer on the team.
We also have sign ups for pasta parties. If you would like to host a pasta party, we can count that as a volunteer opportunity towards the season. As a host, you would need to prepare the pasta and provide your house, everyone else will bring sides/drinks/desserts. If your child is going to a pasta party, please sign up to send something with your child. Sending something to a pasta party with your child does not count as a volunteer opportunity, but it's a nice thing to do.
If you have any questions please feel free to email the coaches or Amy MacIsaac.
Please fill out the following google forms to vote on captains and to let the coaches know what events you would be interested in swimming this season. The coaches would just like to say, good luck voting. Upon reviewing the nominations for captain, any one of these athletes would make a wonderful captain and the coaches would be happy to work with them. We have also attached bios for each candidate (under "Team Files") so if you have already voted and would like to change your vote based on the bios, feel free. Just email the coaches to let us know you re-voted so that we count your SECOND vote instead of your first one. Please remember when voting for captain, you are voting for someone to represent our team. This is not a popularity contest, you should be voting for someone who you see as a leader and is a positive representation of the team. We would like these in by Sunday, November 26th. Also, if you would like to order apparel (link below in the "info" announcement) that order needs to be in by 11:59 on Sunday.
Thank you and have a wonderful holiday!
Please fill out the following google form by Wednesday, November 15th so the coaches can order suits, caps, and shirts in time for the first meet. We are ordering the same suits as last year so if you are a returning swimmer it should be the same size. If you don't know your suit size we have some sample suits for you to try on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Also if anyone would like to order apparel the store will be open until the end of Thanksgiving break. Please make sure you have your order in before Sunday 11/26 so that we can get the apparel in time for Winter Break. You can order from the following link: https://cfswim2017.itemorder.
Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving Holiday! Here is some information about the upcoming weeks including Christmas Break.
Week of 11/27-12/1: This is our last full week of practice before meets. We will have practice Monday-Friday with year round swimmers coming to 3 practices of their choice.
Week of 12/4-12/8: We have 2 meets this week on 12/6 and 12/8. Swimmers must attend the practice before the meet in order to participate in competition. Even if the absence is excused, swimmers cannot compete in a meet if they missed the practice before. 12/6 is a home meet against North Stafford beginning at 7:00. Since warm ups begin at 6:30 we are asking everyone be ready to go by 6:15 on Wednesday night. We only have 15 minutes to warm up and if you are late getting into the pool you will miss out on the opportunity to fine tune your strokes for your events. Due to the meet on Wednesday, we will not have practice Wednesday morning or Thursday morning (sleep in Thursday, you won't be getting home until late Wednesday). We WILL have practice Friday morning, even though we have a meet Friday night. The coaches understand that this will be a long day but we need to get at least one practice in to work on starts, turns, and relay exchanges for the meet that night (so it won't be a difficult practice). The meet on Friday will begin at 8:00 with a 7:30 warm up so please be ready by 7:15. The Friday night meet is a scrimmage against all Stafford High Schools.
Week of 12/11-12/15: Same schedule as last week with meets on Wednesday (vs) and Friday (vs Mountain View). We will have practice Monday, Tuesday, and Friday this week with year round swimmers attending practice on Tuesday and Friday to prepare for the meets. Wednesday's meet will begin at 7:00 with a 6:30 warm up, be there by 6:15. Friday's meet will begin at 8:00 with a 7:30 warm up, be there by 7:15.
Week of 12/18-12/22: This is technically a full week of practice even though the last day of school before break is 12/21. We will have practice from 12/18-12/21 at our normal time (5:15-6:30). On 12/22 we will have practice from 8:00-10:. Bring sneakers and running clothes to Friday's practice, we will be doing a little bit of running and exercises before getting into the pool. Year round swimmers are expected to attend 3 practices this week. If you will not be around for the Winter Break, please email the coaches before Friday 12/22 to let us know that you cannot attend practice. We understand that families travel over break so if you are not in Stafford, please try to do something to stay active over the 2 weeks (run, bike, do some strength training...). Life is going to be VERY difficult for you in January if you are inactive for the entire break. Not to mention, it will be very frustrating if you have been dropping time throughout December and lose your momentum in January because you were idle for 2 weeks. Do SOMETHING over break if you can't make it to practice.
Week of 12/25-12/29: No practice on 12/25. Practice will be held from 8-10 on 12/26-12/29. Year round swimmers, if you are around, attend 2 practices this week. Bring running clothes forbefore we get into the pool.
Week of 1/1-1/5: No practice on 1/1. Practice on 1/2 will be from 8-10, bringclothes. School will resume on 1/3 and so will our normal practice time (5:15-6: ). There are no meets this week. Year round swimmers attend 2 practices.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email the coaches.
Please let the coaches know over the weekend if you are not attending any of the meets next week. So far we have the following swimmers missing the meets on Wednesday and Friday:
- Jack Sheehan
- Cole Hensen
- Chase Hensen
- Jakob Frick
- Lucas Johnson
- Connor Smith
- Russell Smith
- Zadron Sherzad (will be at meet on Wednesday)
- Jordan MacIsaac
- Ava Settle
- Sylvia Cook
- Torii Waisanen (will be at the meet Friday)
- Lexie Loder
Just a reminder that we have 2 meets this week. Wednesday will be against Riverbend and Friday will be against Mountain View. Wednesday's meet will begin at 7:00 with a 6:30 warm up. Swimmers please be at the pool by 6:15, volunteers be at the pool by 6:30. Friday's meet will begin at 8:00 with a 7:30 warm up. Swimmers report at 7:15 and volunteers report by 7:30. PLEASE sign up for the remind app! If there is a last minute change in scheduling (due to weather or pool scheduling conflicts) we will send out a remind message.
Practice will be on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings. Year round swimmers only need to come on Tuesday and Friday to prepare for the meets. We will also have a pasta party Tuesday night at Tyler Hilderbrand's house. Check the sign up genius for the address and to sign up to contribute to the party.
If you would like to swim certain events at either of these meets please email the coaches BEFORE practice on Tuesday or Friday mornings. It is not guaranteed that you will swim those events but the coaches do keep your input in mind. Remember, high school swimming is a TEAM sport. When we seed the meets we keep in mind the best interests of the TEAM. Not everyone can swim the 50 free, someone has to do the 500.
Finally, thank you swimmers and parents for your commitment so far to the team. We understand waking up at 5:00AM every day isn't the greatest but we appreciate all the swimmers and parents for making this an awesome season so far.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email the coaches
Attached below is a list of swimmers who are missing paperwork and what type they are missing. If you do not see your name then you have turned in all of your paper work. Swimmers will need to have all of them turned into the coaches by Monday morning or they will not be allowed to practice. Not having paper work does not count as an excused absence. Please email Coach Bianca at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.

Good Morning everyone,
We would just like to thank everyone who tried out for the team. This is the biggest turnout we have had for the Forge swim team in a long time. While the coaches are thrilled that so many students were interested, it made narrowing the team down to 25 very difficult, especially for the boys. The coaches went through and eliminated anyone who did not get all their time trials in and we still had had way too many to keep the team reasonable. Due to this, we had to make decisions based on times at time trials. If your name is listed below, you have made the team. Please come to practice Monday morning so we can get everything organized for the season:
If you have an questions or concerns please feel free to email the coaches.
Just a reminder we have pictures on Monday at 2:30. We were going to wear warm ups for the pictures but since the warm ups were discontinued last year, some of the newer warm ups look different from the old ones. This is fine for the season but for pictures we all need to be wearing the same exact thing. Due to this, we are going to wear the green long sleeve t-shirts that were handed out last year with black pants. Returning swimmers should have the green t-shirts already. New swimmers, we have extra t-shirts from last year that we can let you borrow for the picture. We will give the t-shirts to new swimmers right before pictures so new swimmers just need to make sure they have black pants.
Attached is a picture of the lifetouch prices. There is another announcement with the prices continued. If you would like to purchase pictures please review the prices attached and send your swimmer with the correct amount on Monday (make checks payable to lifetouch). We will give them the form to fill out at practice Monday morning.
If you have any questions about what to wear or purchasing photos please contact one of the coaches.
Attached below is the second photo for team picture prices. Please refer to the previous announcement for more information on team photos.
Just a reminder tomorrow (11/10) is the last day of time trials. If your name is listed below, we are missing time trials for you. Please remember that if you are missing times, you will be cut from the team. If you are missing times and are still interested in trying out for the team we will need you to come in tomorrow to get your times in.
Swimmers missing times:
Lora Byram - 500 free, 100 IM, 50 free, 50 fly, 50 back
Loren Williams - 500 free
Moran Pomrink - 500 free, 50 fly, 50 back, 50 breast
Rula Aweina - 100 IM, 50 free
Daniel Stocker - 100 IM, 50 free, 50 fly, 50 back, 50 breast
Ian Wilson - 50 fly, 50 back, 50 breast
Justin Addis - 100 IM, 50 free, 50 fly, 50 back, 50 breast
Scotty Walker - 500 free
If you feel there is an error on the list, please email one of the coaches.
We will only be having practice on Monday and Tuesday this week due to the holiday break. Year-round swimmers only need to come to one practice. We will also be voting on captains this week so please look out for another Google form to vote for captain.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email the coaches.
Tryouts for the swim team will be held from November 6th - November 10th. Tryouts will begin at 5:15 AM and go until 6:30 AM at the Rouse Center. Swimmers are expected to arrange a ride to the Rouse Center, but there will be a bus available to bring swimmers to Forge at 6:45. The team will be announced on this website on Sunday, November 12th. Practices for the remainder of the season will be from 5:15AM - 6:30AM at the Rouse Center.
Requirements to make the team - Swimmers must be able to swim the following events legally:
- 500 Free
- 100 Individual Medley
- 50 Freestyle
- 50 Backstroke
- 50 Butterfly
- 50 Breaststroke
Due to space at the pool, the team can only take 50 swimmers for the team (25 boys/25 girls)
If more than 50 swimmers meet the requirements above, we will then select the best 50 times across the 6 events.
If you have any questions please feel free to email the coaches.
Anyone interested in optional preseason conditioning, we will begin Tuesday, October 10th. Preseason workouts will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3-4 until the season starts on November 6th. The first 2 weeks will be on the track (be ready to run!) and the second 2 weeks will be at the pool (first pool workout is October 24th). Please email the coaches if you have any questions.
